April and Big news

Big news! Indy turned 2!!! I can't believe I've had him that long already. He's getting so big already!

Pics of my april flowers!

So middle of March I got my acceptance into North Carolina State University for a PhD program in Toxicology. I'm very excited. Matt was accepted into Durham Technical Community College to start working on his nursing degree. We also worked on apt shopping since our hope to shop for houses was put on hold due to the fact they wouldn't let us close until I receive my first paycheck in NC.... but where would we live? Therefore we are going to rent a little longer, we ended up picking an apt complex that our friends currently live at. http://www.mqpreston.net/home.asp this is the apt complex. We are renting a small 2 bdrm apt, and will have a great porch, and a gym and pool and I'll have a 20 min commute and Matt will have a 30 min commute. We move in at the end of June, and then I'll return to Rochester for an additional month of working since my program doesn't start until August.

Other exciting news in April was Matt starting his bartending classes. It's 2 wks of night classes to get him bartender certified so he can hopefully find a part time job when we move to Raleigh. He also has been having his getting out of the navy classes to teach him about the real world and transitioning, and to help him learn about his reserve duty responsibilities and his GI bill benefits.

My big recipe test for this month was Jell-o Pastel Cookies, they ended up tasting like strawberry cookies. I wouldn't crave them, but they did taste pretty good.

Matt wasn't able to come, but my girlfriend Angie had her wedding here in Rochester so we have had a lot of fun prepping for that and going to that as her and I were both planning our weddings at the same time. So I had a good time with the girls there :)

March 2010

So I know I'm a little behind on the blogging... what's new right? But Matt and I have been very busy with working on the move. February was busy with a lot of trips to North Carolina between traveling for work and for graduate school interviews, so I was exhausted from traveling but at least had a few free trips to see Matt. Well one of the work trips happened to be the weekend after my birthday so I was very fortunate to be able to see Matt that weekend and celebrate turning 24. We stayed at our favorite hotel and ate at Red Lobster for my belated birthday dinner YUM! So much has happened the past 2 months I'm not sure what else was the highlight of that trip- whether we went to the natural history museum that trip or a previous time. But the natural history museum was really neat. All the state museums are free in North Carolina which is GREAT. And Matt loved the natural history museum and all it's lizards and bugs.

Also in March was Kristy and Jim's destination wedding. So off we flew to Antigua! It was an experience. We had to take a van from the airport to the Sandal's resort. Matt commented on how similar the surroundings resembled war torn Iraq. Then the resort itself was very pretty but also small. We don't intend to go back to a Sandals Resort, we didn't think the quality of service and the experience was worth the price we paid but the wedding was pretty.
