Thanksgiving 2009

Matt and I had our first married holiday just last week! It was very exciting even though it was weird not to be home with my family for a holiday. But we drove down from Rochester Thursday morning to St. Mary's PA. There we were with Matt's mom's side of the family who all was there, I"m suprised we forgot to take a big group photo. We got to visit with Grandpa Uhl. And his Uncle John showed us around the house and the property and filled me in on the history of it and the family. And the reason I'm remembering to update the blog was Uncle George commenting that I haven't been updating it enough ;)

But we had a nice time and Matt was very happy to be able to see all of his family again. We spent the whole afternoon and evening there. And returned in the morning when most of the family had left and spent that time with his grandpa who appeared very happy to see everyone. We got to see a lot of deer on the property too :)

On our drive back to Rochester that afternoon we stopped by the Zippo factory which was fun as well. When we got back to rochester, we had a date weekend set up. We went to the famous Geva Theatre in Rochester on saturday night to see The Christmas Story play. And that was an incredible production. We thouroughly enjoyed that. Then sunday we went to church followed by The Nutcracker Ballet at Eastman Theater. We had an amazing weekend until Monday morning when we were leaving the apartment for Matt to hit the road and myself to go to work when we found Matt's truck had had it's window busted and items stolen from the truck. This postponed his return to base a day as we dealt with reporting police reports and calling insurances, getting the window fixed and trying to work from home- which as nice as it sounds seems to be more hastle than it is worth. We are still recovering from this fiasco, and trying to replace our lost goods, luckily insurance and family has been a great support in this occurence but it is another bump in the road that we are currently working through still.
